ACC Celebrates 109 Years!

News Article

On Sunday May 21, 2023 Arcadia Community Church will be celebrating it's 109th Birthday! Come celebrate with us! Rev. Dr. Larry Ballenger, our Pastor of Visitation and Care, will be sharing the message. After the service enjoy a piece of the church's birthday cake, and receive a unique birthday gift as recognition of this fun milestone.

In the spirit of our birthday, here is a little trivia for you: 24 members first worship in an abandoned store room on 1st Ave just north of the Santa Fe railroad tracks in 1914. In 1916, for $1800 the new church bought four lots and an old packing shed at Huntington and Santa Anita, where the windmill over the Denny's sits today. The next year the first sanctuary was built for $5000. By 1923 a second building was needed and a stucco church was built costing $21,000. By 1935 the church had grown to over 700 members, and the building was moved to 1st and Alice, the church's present location. During the late 1950 the Fellowship Hall and Administrative building were built and our present sanctuary was completed in 1962.
